What Must We Do to Inherit Eternal Life?

Monday, December 31st, 2007

By Jerry Richard Boone Surely the most important question ever asked is: What must we do to inherit eternal life? And who is better qualified to answer that question than Jesus, Peter, and Paul? So let’s see what they have to say. Peter’s Sermon at Pentecost When the people heard [Peter's sermon at Pentecost], they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37) The most important question asked in the first century is still the most important in the twenty-first century. And the answer is still the same! Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off-for all whom the Lord our God will call.” With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:38-47) So how do the scriptures answer the critical question: What shall we do? What Shall We Do? Believe in Jesus Christ Before baptism, faith in Jesus is necessary. The jailor asked Paul and Silas what should he do to be saved. They replied: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-you and your household.” (Acts 16:31) The jailor and his family were baptized. Paul again stressed the importance of belief saying the gospel is salvation for everyone who believes. (Romans 1:15-17) John informs us that all who believe that Jesus is the Christ are born of God. And those who believe Jesus is the Son of God overcome the world. (1 John 5:1-6) But what of those who don’t believe? “Their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur,” warns Jesus. (Revelation 21:8) Why do you suppose so much emphasis is placed on what we believe? Surely whatever we believe is nothing more than an opinion based on how we view the evidence. How could what we believe be considered a vice or virtue? The answer to that question comes from Jesus himself. “I am the way the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) Peter echoes Jesus’ words: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) We are not given a choice of who or what to believe. For eternal life we must have faith in Jesus, that he is who he claimed to be: the Christ, the Son of God, and our only hope for salvation. That much is essential. Repent Jesus concludes the parable of the lost coin with: “There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke: 15:10) Paul said that God commands all people everywhere to repent. (Acts 17:30) And he repeats the theme of repentance twice more in the book of Acts. (Acts:20:21 and 26:20) Peter too preached repentance saying that the Lord is patient, not wanting any to perish, but all to repent. (2 Peter 3:9) What did Jesus, Paul, and Peter mean by repentance? Mere words and sentiment? No, the brand of repentance they had in mind is an abrupt change in our behavior. Think of a company of soldiers marching along. The command rings out, “To the rear, march!” In one stride they reverse course and march off in the opposite direction. Such is repentance. We discover we are in the wrong, and we completely change direction. Confess Faith in Jesus Confession is another requirement. Jesus said that whoever confesses him before men, he will confess before his Father in heaven. But those who deny him will be denied before his Father. (Matthew 10:32-33 NKJV) Paul says very much the same in his letter to the Romans. “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) Baptism Baptism is the fourth requirement. The resurrected Jesus instructed his disciples to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19) He also said, “No one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born of the water and the Spirit.” (John 3:5) The resurrected Jesus spoke to the eleven apostles: “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:16) Responding to the plea from the Jews on the day of Pentecost, “What must we do?”, Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” (Acts 2:38) Baptism in the scriptures meant immersion, not pouring nor sprinkling. Clearly, Paul was speaking of immersion in the passage: “Don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” (Romans 6:3-4) Likewise, Philip taking the Ethiopian eunuch “down into the water” for baptism and coming “up out of the water” is a physical description of immersion. (Acts 8:37-39) The first case for sprinkling for baptism was called “clinic baptism” because the subject was quite ill. Sprinkling for baptism was not fully accepted until the Council of Ravena in 1311 A.D. We have no reason to believe Christ ever approved of it. New Testament scriptures, Acts in particular, records many baptisms. All were old enough to believe, no one was baptized against his will, and no infant baptism is mentioned at all. The baptism of children may have begun around 200 A.D. Tertullian, (ca. 155-230) church leader and prolific author of early Christianity, speaks of this custom originating in his own time. What Must We Do, Jesus? Jesus answered the “What must we do?” question twice. The following conversation is usually titled “The Rich Young Man” or “The Rich Ruler.” Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.” “Which ones?” the man inquired. Jesus replied, ” ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself.” “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” (Matthew 19:16-21) (Also Mark 10:17-21 and Luke 18:18-22) Luke relates the following exchange between Jesus and a lawyer: On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” He answered: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” (Luke 10:25-28) In summary, the scriptures detail what we must do to inherit eternal life: Believe in God and Jesus Christ, repent of your sins, confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, be baptized in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins, love God, love your neighbor as yourself, honor your father and mother, give to the poor, refrain from murder, adultery, theft, false testimony, and Mark adds “do not defraud.” (Mark 10:19) Believing, repenting, confessing, baptizing, and obeying are our marching orders as Christians. But there is more, a lot more. “Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God because he said so. The other evidence about him has convinced them he was neither a lunatic nor a quack.” Christian Reflections C. S. Why You Must Be Executive Producers Of Your Wedding Video

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Olivia Romero If you want to get spectacular results from your wedding video then you and your groom must become executive producers. Even though this may sound intimidating, and adds to your already-overwhelming list of things to do for the wedding, being executive producers is easy when you get an early start. Believe it or not, you are already executive producers of your wedding. Just like the executive producers of a movie, you and your groom are making the who, what, where, when, how, and why decisions that go into planning the wedding of your dreams. Planning your wedding video should be no different. Deciding who is going to produce the wedding video is going to be one of your most important tasks. Whether you hire the premier wedding videographer in your city, or ask family or friends to videotape the wedding, it is essential to choose people that you can trust to carry out your videotaping wishes. As such, it is also critical to take some time to think about exactly what those wishes are. The when, where and why will then be the natural result of this thought process. The reason its important to think about this is the very same reason many couples dont think about this: because a wedding is a one-time event. If a wedding video is missing something because the bridal couple didnt tell the videographer that it was important, theres no chance to go back and get it. Just remember that the videographer can be your eyes and ears the day of the wedding. The videographer will be able to see (and capture) everything that you and your groom wont get a chance to see all the nerves and excitement of you and your bridesmaids getting ready, the playfully teasing between the groom and his friends, family and guests meeting for the first time, last minute flower arranging, rolling out the white carpet, etc. Even when you’re walking down the aisle, and you and your groom only have eyes for each other, you wont miss the expressions of your guests because the videoprapher can capture it all for you. So after you and your groom think about, discuss and decide what should be captured the day of the wedding, you must clearly communicate your wishes to the videographer so that he/she can take care of the how. A wedding video is more than a series of pictures tied together. It is a love story. It is YOUR love story and you only get one chance to get it right. Becoming executive producers of your wedding video will ensure that you will be able to relive and experience all your joy, laughter, tears and love for years to come. Winter Craft Ideas For Kids

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Susanne Myers When the weather is cold and wet outside, and kids are cooped up inside, winter crafts are a great way to keep them entertained. With just a few simple crafting supplies you can keep them busy for hours and avoid cabin fever at the same time. Give it a try and come up with some winter craft ideas for your kids using some of the suggestions below. Paper Snowflakes Do you remember cutting fancy snowflakes out of a piece of paper when you where a kid? Your child will enjoy this simple craft just as much. Get out a few pieces of white paper, fold them and start cutting out snowflakes. When you have a nice collection of different designs, hang them on a window, or get out a big sheet of dark blue or black construction paper and glue them on for a fun snowflake collage. Make A Snow Landscape. Get a shoebox or any other size box, turn it on its side and put some cotton batting in the bottom as a layer of snow. Then let your kids craft little houses out of milk carton boxes adding some more cotton batting to the roofs for a layer of snow. Use small branches and twigs as trees, and cotton balls as snow covered bushes. Cut some an irregular circular shape out of light blue paper to represent a lake. Different size Styrofoam balls (or marshmallows), held together by a toothpick make for a great snowman. Inside Snow Angels Let the kids make snow angles inside, when theres not enough snow to do it outside. You and the kids can tear newspaper into small strips or pieces. Or just run the newspaper through the paper shredder. Pile it up on the kitchen floor. If you have a lot of packing peanuts, those will work as well. Let your kids lay down and make snow angels by moving their arms and legs. Dont forget to take a picture of the process and the finished snow angle. When youre done, sweep it all up and put it into your recycle bin. Benefits Of Artichoke Juice For One And All

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Kevin Pederson Artichoke originated in the Mediterranean countries and was a popular delicacy at Roman feasts. It is now grown in many hot areas and is an important crop in parts of California. A good artichoke will have a nice color, well closed centre leaves and be without bruises or blemishes. The base should be without any tendency to woodiness. Artichoke is often eaten raw as well as cooked, but cooking artichokes in an aluminum pot causes discoloration and blackening. Like other plants in the thistle family, to which it belong, the artichoke contains some therapeutically valuable oils which have a strong stabilizing effect on the human metabolism. It is used to aid liver complaints and is also a very important diuretic for those suffering from the retention of water. In some parts artichoke forms the basis for several drinks which are fortified with alcohol. You can try one yourself with by juicing 20z (50g) of the artichoke leaves and adding both artichoke juice and the residual pulp to a bottle of white wine. Leave for a week, strain into a clean bottle and it is ready for use. A wine glassful each day is the normal amount to take. This is a useful recipe because artichokes are not always available and there are great price fluctuations. With wine you can take the juice whenever you wish. This is called ‘artichoke elixir’ in the therapeutic index. Artichoke juice is not normally taken alone, but is mixed with others and, where its use is suggested, it can be fresh, frozen or with wine. Artichoke extract is not a very good source of vitamin C, but is rich in calcium. Kevin Pederson has been managing a number of natural home remedies websites which have information on nutritious juices of artichoke which is good n vitamins and others supplements needed for the body. The 411 on Secured Loans: What You Need to Know

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Mary Simone Any time someone borrows money from a bank, the funds lent are referred to as a loan. Any time when the bank asks for collateral (a security that the bank takes charge of if you are unable to pay, like your home or property), thats called a secure loan. A first secured loan on property is considered to be first charge, while a second loan (perhaps a home equity or second mortgage) is second charge. Secured loans are easier to obtain than an unsecured loan, as the bank has a means of repayment in the event that you are unable to. There are many types of secured loan programs available, offering different benefits and such to the borrower. But no matter which one you choose, there are some things you need to know before you agree to or sign anything. First, secured loans come in a variety of amounts (typically averaging between 3,000 to 50,000, but have been seen as high as 250,000 with some lenders). They are repaid on a monthly basis for a predetermined amount of time (usually between 3 and 25 years). Some loan programs may have a prepayment penalty (a fee attached to the loan if it is paid off earlier than expected), so be sure to ask your lender if this applies to your loan. Second, the APR (Annual Percentage Rate) is the interest youll be charged for borrowing the money. Your APR will depend on several factors, including your credit history and equity available in the property. Its a wise idea to compare interest rates from different lenders to be sure that youre getting the best one possible. Next, you need to know how to apply for a secured loan. The Internet revolution has changed the lending industry for the better, as its no longer necessary for you to leave your home to apply for a secure loan. Although you can visit your local branch of your favorite lending institution, its much easier to login online and enter your information, or to pick up the telephone. Finally, you need to know how governing laws are protecting you. All secured homeowner loans are subject to the Consumer Credit Act of 1974. This act contains strict guidelines as to how money is lent out, covering loans up to 25,000. (Loans for greater amounts are unregulated). Before such a secured loan is granted, you will have to sign a legally binding credit agreement for the terms of your particular program. A consideration period of 7 days is to be granted to you by the lender. Lenders are to offer you insurance options to cover your monthly loan payments in the event that you are unable to pay under specific circumstances, such as illness, unemployment, an accident or death. All coverage options will vary between lenders, and so will the cost, so be sure to check with your lender for any details, specifically as to what is covered and what is not. The Culture of Excess

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

By Bonnie Moss We live in a society of gadgets and gizmos,of toys and more toys, of things that evokefeelings of luxury, style and class. This is available to almost everyone, not just a privileged few. Welcome to the 21st century. No other time of the year is it more prevalent, conspicuous and aggressively promoted than during the Christmas season. Thanks to advances in technology, the airwaves, the print and electronic media are flooded with advertisements that appeal to society in general,to people from all walks of life. There is somethingfor everyone. After all, producers of all goods andservices have YOU in mind. Open any newspaper or magazine and indulge yourself with endless advertisements, appealing, titillating and surely tempting. You cant miss it.Its almost in every page, it glares you in the face. Turn on the computer and you can access more goods and services at the click of a mouse. Add to this endless ads and banners meant to whet yourappetite for things you dont need and pay for with money you dont have. The young generation is brought up in this era of consumerism. They are introduced to a highmaintenance lifestyle at a very young age. Gone are the days when shopping for children wasfun. A time when it did not take much to make their young hearts happy. Life was simpler. Times have surely changed. The trappings of the good life is no longer the sole privilege of the wealthy. Comfort, travel, wheels, homes, luxury items, name it,it is within the reach of anyone who is willing to go into debt. Take a look at overstuffed closets, pantries, shelves, garage and any space available for storage. Take a closer look at your overfilled refrigerator, half of the food is barely touched!Yet, you keep buying more food that will probablyend up in the garbage. This is just the beginning of the practice of conspicuous consumption of our society. In the nameof convenience, there are more and more gadgets for the home introduced faster than one can pay offexisting debt. However, going into debt is not a deterrent. It is no longer a matter of meeting a need, thewant list gets longer and longer. Each member ofa family has their own want list. Technology is wonderful. It allows man to takegreat strides in all fields of endeavor, faster and more accurate than our forbears. Technology makes it possible for man to explore space, the depths of the ocean, the untrodden parts of thisearth. Through technology, man has made incredible advances in science and the medical field. Add tothis the revolution and globalization in communication.Technology is of great benefit to mankind. It is very much a part of our daily lives. There isa downside- man wants more of the convenience that technology offers. It fuels the imagination of bothproducers and consumers. It stimulates the need for more. It encourages the desire to pamper oneself, and loved ones with more goods. Having more than what one needs promotes a sense of living the good life. For every season, for everyoccasion, the market offers boundless ideas and endless flow of material goods. Beware, quality isslipping down fast, as production and advertisement are cranked up, some of the quality is compromised. The convenience that technology offers is hard to ignore. How did we manage before, when most of the chores were done manually? Imagine the time spentto get anything done? Take a look around the house- push a buttonto get laundry or the dishes done. Press anotherbutton to start the car before you open the door.Set a timer for your coffeemaker, for your lightsto come on at a desired time, your radio to wake you up. Wouldnt you be lost without that remote control? What about the other gadgets and tools for thehandyman? There are other things around the house to make life more convenient and definitely add to that feeling of comfort and luxury. Theres more. Communication and entertainmentare a gold mine for the enterprising. Whats new today will be obsolete in a short period of time. Each member of the family has to be wired. Watch the ads, imagine the convenience of havingextra gadgets for each family member just for somuch a month. Add to this the paraphernalia thatgoes with it, some of which are good to have butnot a necessity. But does it matter? The quest for material goods is at excessiveproportions. It hits the very core of a person. Some can only measure success relative to theirmaterial possessions. Some identify their self-worth with material acquisitions. The words status and prestige are medals they wear proudly. Does this bring them happiness? Do they feel fulfilled? How much of these goods are on credit? How manysleepless nights are spent doing endless calculations? What is the effect on family relationships? How can happiness be enjoyed amid an atmosphereof borrowed affluence? The Ultimate Guide to Weight Loss

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

By James Mefford Introduction Whether weight loss pills, liposuction, fad diets and drinks, or a number of other unreliable alternatives, we want to shed pounds quickly with little effort. The great news is you can get it fast and you can get it easily, but short of sucking the fat out of you through risky and expensive procedures, you’re going to have to put in a bit work. While exercise will greatly increase the effectiveness of your weight loss program and comes with the highest recommendations, it’s not necessary, and for those with an extremely busy life style, not even an option. First, forget anything you’ve ever heard from a company trying to sell you a weight loss program, be it a pill, surgery, a drink, anything. Weight fluctuation comes from one thing and one thing alone: taking in more calories than your body expends in a day. In this guide, I’ll take a look at where calories come from, what to avoid, tips for lowering your intake and some tricks to help you control your metabolism and lose weight more easily. It’s All about the Calories For humans, caloric intake comes from four primary sources: fat, carbohydrates, protein, and alcohol. First, lets take a look at each source so we know how to focus our diet. Fats: Fats are the worse type of calorie you can consume, bar none. One thing to keep in the back of your head at all times is that fat is very high in calories. Every gram of fat consumed contains 9 calories. Compare this to the 4 calories per gram in carbohydrates and protein. If you ate a slab of pure fat, in comparison to a slab of pure sugar, you’d be consuming 2.25 times more calories for an equal weight portion. Although a bit gross, it illustrates an important pointthat with other sources of energy you can eat more and take in equal or fewer calories. That’s only one of the benefits of staying away from fat, but since we’re focusing on calories for now, I’ll spare you the lecture on cholesterol and cardiovascular health. Fats were probably great for humans once upon a time during the good ole days of cavemen who hunted for food and weren’t afforded the luxury to consume regular meals. For them, fat was an important source of prolonged energy output during periods with no food source. For today’s average American, this feature of fat no longer plays a critical role, and although some fats are essential to our survival, saturated fats are the norm in our society and through this plan we’ll get plenty of the essentials from some recommended food items. So for our purposes, I would recommend consuming as little fat as possible beyond those items. Carbohydrates: Carbohydrates, as stated before, contain 4 calories per gram. However, carbs, just like fats, come in a number of varieties from the very simple to complex. Carbohydrates are the main source of energy for human function as they are converted to glucose in our bloodstream. That glucose is used up in our every bodily function and movement. From the basic beating of our heart to the complex processes involved in lifting heavy weights, carbs represent our primary source of energy for work output. Carbohydrates exist on a continuum of complexity based on the ease with which they are broken down through our saliva, stomach and other bodily processes. Simple carbs are quickly and easily converted to glucose, while the more complex carbs remain in our stomach longer as they are broken down. The human body has evolved to know that it only needs a certain amount of glucose in most situations, so carbs which are simple and easy to convert accumulate in the blood stream quickly and cause a spike in insulin production. Insulin is a hormone that encourages the excess glucose to be quickly converted into stored energy, or fat. In this way, simple carbohydrates can be a killer for those on a weight loss program because even though they may not represent a ton of calories, eating them often results in the production of more glucose than our bodies need at that particular moment. Simple carbohydrates are mainly sugars, such as sucrose, fructose and maltodextrin and are commonly found in sodas, sugary sweets and other tantalizing items. Unfortunately, they only provide a quick sugar fix and result in lower average energy levels. For optimal weight loss it is important to focus your diet on complex carbohydrates like those found in vegetables and whole grains. If youre interested in finding out how simple or complex a carbohydrate may be, many are ranked on the glycemic index, a resource for hypoglycemic and diabetic individuals who must carefully monitor their blood sugar throughout the day. By consuming more complex carbs, energy is converted slowly over the course of several hours rather than minutes, resulting in longer, more sustained energy and reduced appetite. As an extra benefit, many complex carbohydrates can be found in foods that contain a large volume of non-caloric material, which helps to satiate an individual for a longer period of time. Take for example green beans, of which a typical 80 gram sample contains a mere 25 calories, versus an equal weight in a simple sugar which contains 320 calories. Heres an excellent resource on the glycemic index and how various foods fit into the spectrum. http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/articles/glycemic-index/ Protein: Proteins, like carbohydrates, contain 4 calories per gram. They serve many functions in the body, but the most important for our purposes is producing muscle tissue and being converted into energy. When muscles fail, be it through lifting weights or running, they need to be rebuilt and that process requires protein. If the conditions are ideal, these muscles rebuild stronger and bigger than their previous state. As muscle mass increases, so too does your basal metabolic rate. In other words, the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. In fact, for every extra pound of muscle you gain, you burn roughly 50 calories more per day. This means that by building muscle through careful use of protein supplementation in your diet, you can increase your muscle mass and train your body to burn more calories. However, dont take in too much protein, or youll risk storing it as fat as well. Your best bet is to focus on lean protein laden foods such as turkey and chicken breast. Like green beans, these foods provide a great weight-to-calorie ratio and will fill you up for extended periods of time. Alcohol: Oh alcohol, how we love to hate you. Alcohol, unlike carbs or protein, contains 7 calories per gram. As you might imagine, the main source of alcohol calories comes through beer, wine and distilled spirits such as vodka. There are very few recommendations needed for alcohol consumption. The main rule to follow is this: consume alcohol in moderation. If you drink a lot of alcohol, not only are you more likely to binge eat due to lowered inhibitions and increased appetite as a direct result of intoxication, you are also putting your body in a state of natural catabolism, where it will convert protein from which your muscles are composed, into glucose for energy. This protein conversion leaves you with less muscle, and a lower level of inherent calorie burning, or a lower basal metabolic rate. If youre a binge drinker and cant live without alcohol, then I would recommend clear distilled spirits, as they are virtually absent of any other carbohydrate and are the lowest overall in terms of calories. However, dont mix these with sugary drinks or youll completely remove their main attraction. The problem with heavy beers and sugary liquors is their high simple carbohydrate content. Compare the typical shot of vodka, which contains roughly 70 calories, and a typical heavy beer, which can contain as much as 170 calories, for an equal amount of get you drunk alcohol. Used Car Loans

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Eddie_Tobey]Eddie Tobey A person buying a used car will most likely need to apply for a used car loan either before or during the process of car purchase. Used car loans can be had from banks, credit unions, auto dealerships, and online financing companies. It is easiest to apply for a used car loan through the Internet. This is because you can find hundreds of car loan lenders competing to get customers. Therefore, theres a higher possibility of getting a lower rate for the used car loan than from a randomly chosen bank or dealership. It is really easy to apply for a used car loan on the Internet. All you need to do is fill an online vehicle loan application form wherein you could obtain a quote on the same day. In fact, you can get a used car loan at lower rates by comparing the different rates from different companies. It is always better to apply for a used car loan if you have a good credit score (at least 680). People with a bad credit score end up paying higher interest rates. Thus, you should apply for a used car loan only after you get your updated credit report with your credit score. If you have a credit score that is less than 540, then you should apply for a car loan only after you learn how to repair your own credit score. Most banks do not issue loans for used cars that are more than 4 or 5 year old. This is because there is a higher risk of the car breaking down and going in for repairs, as they grow older. Generally, banks charge at least 2% higher APR on used car loans than for new car loans. However, as said before, online lenders are cheaper and tend to use car loan rates that are closer to the rates of new car loans. Professional Negligence - Compensation for Mistakes Made by Professionals

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Martin Nolan Professional Negligence claims compensation for errors or wrongful advice If you have been the victim of poor or negligent advice received from a professional you may be able to reclaim losses and compensation by instructing a specialist solicitor to handle your case. Despite rigid qualification criteria and tight regulation, even the most experienced of professionals can occasionally make a mistake. You are owed a duty of care by any professional who you engage to conduct specialist services and you have the right to complain and possibly commence legal action against anyone not fulfilling their obligations. You cannot claim for advice that you are merely dissatisfied with but which might be entirely appropriate. You cannot claim in circumstances where you are unhappy with the attitude of the professional. These generally speaking are customer service problems and not subject to professional negligence criteria. In order to make a claim against an accountant, architect, solicitor, surveyor or other specialist, you need to establish that a loss was sustained by you and that this can be quantified. If you feel that you may have a case then you need to contact a compensation lawyer who specialises in claims against professionals who wrongly advise their clients. If you have suffered loss or damage, please make an enquiry with us today. Call FREE on 0800 0322210. In order to succeed in a professional negligence claim you have to prove 3 things: 1) That the professional owed you a duty of care. This is usually not difficult if you have engaged the professional to provide a service for you, because you will probably have a contract with the professional. All providers of a service under contract have a duty to provide the service with due skill and diligence and where the time isnt specified within a reasonable time. 2) That the professional has breached that duty of care You have to prove that the standard of work provided by the professional is worse than that you should expect from a reasonable professional working in the circumstances of your case. 30 That the breach of duty of care has caused you loss that can be quantified This is often the hardest part to prove. You have to show that you are worse off than you would have been had the professional provided the service with due skill and diligence We have a team of dedicated professional negligence claims specialist lawyers who can advise you on your prospects of taking legal action against the party or parties who provided the bad advice. Cardio for Weight Loss- The Wrong Way

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Craig Ballantyne You are doing the wrong cardio workout. The weight loss cardio program you are using is wrong, wrong, wrong! Slow, boring cardio is not best for fat loss. Recent research from Australia has shown that intervals works better than cardio. The female subjects did 3 workouts per week. Group 1 did intervals for 20 minutes. Group 2 did cardio for 40 minutes. The subjects in Group 1 lost more weight! So don’t rely on cardio for weight loss. But a lot of people are doing intervals wrong as well. Here are two ways that people do intervals wrong and that end up reducing the effectiveness of their workouts. 1) Don’t do them at the start of the workout. Unless you want to wipe yourself out and make your strength training less than optimal, don’t start your workouts with the intervals. You’ll get more results by doing your intervals at the end of the workout. 2) Don’t alternate between a strength training exercise and an interval. If you do this, your strength work will suffer. Want to get 20% weaker in your lifts? Then just try to lift something after you have sprinted for 30-60 seconds. I guarantee you’ll be a lot weaker if you do that…but that’s the exact opposite effect of what you are trying to achieve with strength and interval training. We want to be fresh and strong for our strength training exercises, and then finish the workout with energy-depleting, turbulence-promoting interval training. Again, the bottom line: You’ll get more results by doing your intervals at the end of the workout. I strongly believe it is best to separate the two methods…otherwise, the intervals knock the strength out of your “sails” so to speak, so that the results are not optimal. Focus on the quality of training, not just on sweating up a storm. Consistency is king, but you also have to follow a perfectly-structured plan, CB You have permission to publish this article in your web sites, ezines or electronic publication, as long as the piece is used in its entirety including the resource box, all hyperlinks (HTML clickable) and references and copyright info.
