Gazebos - To Build or Not to Build, That is The Question

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Dion Semeniuk So youve made the decision that you would really like a Gazebo.Youve researched all the pros and cons of owning one. Youveresearched the different kinds that are out there, from wood tometal. Youve even nailed down the size you want and where tolocate it in your yard. Now, the question is, should I build itmyself or hire somebody with experience? Good question. Lets see if we can point out if building is for you. There areseveral things to think about before starting to build a gazebo.First of all, you will need some basic tools. This can rangefrom a miter saw to a screw driver. If you already have thetools, then you are already a step ahead. If you do not, thenyou need to start thinking about cost and how much you wouldneed to spend to either buy the necessary tools or to rent them. Next question to ask yourself is, are you naturally handy? Ifyou have the tools already, my guess would be yes, you are ahandy man around the house. There are plenty of gazebo plansavailable free in libraries and online. You can also getreally detailed plans that range from 8 dollars to 200 dollars, depending on the type of gazebo you want to build. The mainthing to remember is that you will need to be able to followplans and instructions which is easier said than done. The main thing to remember when deciding if you should buildyour own gazebo really comes down to money. How much would itcost to hire somebody to do it and do it correctly? If money isnot a factor, this is the best route to go. When you hiresomebody to do the job, there are many benefits you will getfrom this. First, it will get done, and get done probablyquicker than if you did it. When you hire someone, they come inand get the job done when you tell them to. Next, you may evenbenefit from warranty packages. If for some reason the gazebohas a problem, the contractor may be liable to come back and fixit at no charge over a period of time. On the other hand, if youre a hands on person, get greatsatisfaction of building and doing things yourself, then ofcourse, you will want to tackle this project and own it. Youwill definitely save a few bucks and just think, when youredone building your gazebo, you can sit inside it and just enjoythe great outdoors and bask in the glory that you created thismasterpiece. A Couple of Good Places to Buy Lawnmowers

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Johnathan Sanders After much searching and deliberation, I finally bought a lawnmower of the Internet. This is not the sort of item that I would normally buy on the web, but am happy that I did so. It is not too difficult to actually find bargains on the Internet. For example, to find a good bargain on lawnmowers, goto google, yahoo or whichever is your prefered search engine and simple type “lawnmower offers”. By keeping the speech marks around the words your searching for will display results only containing those exact words, where as, just typing lawnmower offers will display both words, hence a more generic response. What many people don’t know, is that the lising on the left and top of google are actually paid listing, ie, websites that are paying to have their pages listed for those keywords. I have found that they generally offer detailed info on products and what therefore recommend you search these listing. Of course, any sites that are generally on the first page of the search results also provide good content. Try also looking at google adwords on a webpage- Google run an advertising program where they will display only relevant ads to the discription on the page. Hopefully I haven’t confused you! If so below is a brief outline on where to find lawnmower bargains on the net: 1. Ebay- always a good source, infact you can find almost everthing listed here, even fighter jets, although they won’t help cutting the lawn! 2. Google adverts- these are always a good source as the companies are trying to target your specfic search term. Remember to use “” around the item you are searching for, to gaurantee a more targeted search. 3. General search engine listing 4. Bizrate is another good site, they carry out a search of 1000’s of compaines and display the results, so that you can compare prices, delivery costs etc. Thanks, Johnathan Saunders http://www.lawn-mower-parts.info Just recently got into amatuer gardening enjoying every minute of it! Fly Fishing From a Drift Boat

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

By Ryan O Kelly Fly fishing from a drift boat can be a tremendous advantage over wade fishing. It allows you to cover a lot more water and get amazingly long drifts. I row a drift boat about a 180 days a year and have worked hard to perfect my craft. When fly fishing from a drift boat it is important to remember it is different from wade fishing. I watch a countless number of drift boats go by trying to fish like they would while wading. Here are some simple tips to help you catch more fish from a drift boat. 1. Row the boat at the same speed as your flies. Most of the time your flies and the boat will be moving in different currents. That means the boat and the flies will be traveling at different speeds. The rower needs to focus on one of the flies and slow down or speed up accordingly. It is the job of the fisherman to mend his/her line as needed to keep a proper drift. If two people are fishing, fish out the same side of the boat at a similar distance. It is impossible for the rower to row two different drifts at the same time. 2. Fish nymphs perpendicular to the boat with the boat pointed downstream. If you fish nymphs in front of the boat you will miss most of your hits. In fact, the majority of your hits won’t even move your indicator. You’ll never know if they even happened. Cast your line straight towards shore and mend accordingly. You want your flies to trail back on a 45 degree angle from your indicator. This will increase the number of hookups. 3. Don’t overweight your nymph rigs. Weight your rigs enough to get the flies to the bottom without hanging up. It should take the flies five to ten seconds to reach the feeding zone. I can usually float 200 to 500 feet without hanging up. If you never hang up you probably need to add a little weight. Adding too much weight will not allow the flies to drift naturally with the current. Rather your indicator will pull your flies through the natural currents. The undercurrents are not always the same as the surface current. You want your flies to drift naturally. 4. Fish Dry flies downstream from the boat. An easy way to do this is turn the boat sideways and cast straight downstream. This can be difficult if the wind is blowing. If the boat is pointed downstream, cast as much downstream as possible and still reach your desired target. A 45 degree angle downstream is a good place to start. Both fishermen should fish parallel to one another. When fishing the bank avoid the temptation to cast straight across. Hit the bank as far downstream as possible. A reach cast works best. 5. Things not to do. Don’t fish behind the boat. Especially with dry flies. You want the fish to see your fly first, not last. Don’t anchor in a run or on a flat. It is rude to block the natural flow of traffic. Don’t pull anchor and start fishing in front of someone right behind you. Don’t switch sides of the river in front of other boats. Don’t row over other peoples flies. Don’t criticize other boats for their mistakes. 6.Things to do. Have fun and catch fish. Give others lots of space. Avoid contention on the river. We are all out there to have a good time, so lets have a good time. The author is a fly fishing guide on Utah’s Green River. Creating Wildlife Gardens

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

By Tim Hallinan Creating a wildlife garden allows you take part in your larger surrounding environment. Often gardens are completely shut out from the natural landscape around it and aren’t welcoming to birds and other wildlife. Adding a few well placed and well chosen shrubs or trees can make all the difference when trying to attract birds to your garden. Map out and observe your surroundings to see what natural habitats are close by. Are there any ponds, rivers, or streams? Are parks, golf courses or nature reserves nearby? Remember, your garden is part of the larger environment. Knowing what the local ecosystems are will better enable you to plan your garden. In order to attract birds, gardens must supply them with food, water, shelter and nesting areas. Provide for different bird species by making available a variety of seed and berry producing trees and shrubs, such as Washington hawthorn, mountain ash, cherry and viburnum. Flowers such as hollyhock, nasturtium, and sunflower produce seed which attract birds as well. Indigenous plants, those which grow naturally in a specific area, are very effective at attracting local bird species. Try to incorporate some of these into your garden. Also, be sure to provide food throughout the year. For example, in the spring have a few different berry producing shrubs available, such as blueberries and raspberries. In the summer, perennials provide seed and in the fall trees such as dogwood and serviceberry bear fruit which birds will seek out. Birds which over winter in your area will need sustenance provided by winterberry and other fruit bearing shrubs. Different birds need different foods and different environments in which to live. Robins, for example, eat at ground level where they forage for insects and worms while many other birds prefer to be off the ground a bit in the midst of a perennials garden where they eat the seeds of the flowers. Some birds, like grosbeaks, prefer the height of shrubs and others still, such as the woodpecker, prefer to be in the canopy of taller trees where their able to find insects in the tree’s bark. Plants, while providing food, also supply birds with shelter. Evergreens and other dense shrubs provide nesting areas and protection from cold winter winds and create shade in the heat of the summer. While it may be impossible to incorporate all these habitats into your garden, plan at least a couple. The more habitats you can provide the more birds will flock to your garden. Along with food, birds require water for both drinking and bathing. If there aren’t any natural water sources near your garden, be sure to place a birdbath or water dish in the area. Keep the water fresh by filling it daily. In the winter when the water freezes knock out the ice and replace with fresh water. Most home and garden stores that stock birdbaths sell small water heaters which will prevent freezing. If you are considering using one of these consult an electrician to help with the installation. If their aren’t any natural water systems in your area, consider planning a water garden, just remember bird prefer shallow water to deep water. Waterfalls and bubbling fountains will attract a number of birds since most species are drawn to the sound of running water. If you’re contemplating using a bird feeder, maintain it and be sure to keep it stocked as birds often come to depend on these feeders, especially during the lean, harsh months of winter. Since birds are attracted to a variety of different foods, supply them with seeds, berries, fats, breads and nuts. Avoid salty foods. Using a birdhouse for your seed provides shelter as well as a place for food. Creating a garden which attracts birds has positive effect on the environment; you’re providing a new habitat for birds and well as beneficial insects and other wildlife. While birds will thrive and will benefit the most from your efforts, you’re also providing years of enjoyment for both yourself and visitors to your garden. Eschatology - Worldwide Evangelism, Signs of the End Part 2

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

By William Bell, Jr. The Gospel Must Be Preached To All The Nations To what time do the signs of the end refer? Is it the near future? Most accept a futurist position without question. It is possible that we all agree that evangelism of the world characterizes the last days and precedes the ultimate end. What is questioned is when that end occurs. The key text for consideration of the evangelistic sign is Matthew 24:14. “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Some have labored to the end of seeking to ensure the gospel reaches all nations to hurry along the awaited end of the world. Did We Overlook The Effectiveness of First Century Evangelists? What is clear from the Great Commission is that the Apostles were charged to preach the gospel to all the world. It is significant that such had to occur before the end could occur. What if they failed or all died out before completing that mission. Would not such create failure on the part of God to carry out a divine promise? It is our suggestion that these first century evangelists did not fail nor fall short. In fact, they succeeded well in advance of the expected end. Without modern broadcasting equipment, modern transportation, electronic media or the internet, they reached their world in less than 40 years. Completion of the Evangelistic Mission Numerous times it is recorded that the gospel reached the world in the first century. The apostles understood clearly their mission and fulfilled it. The Romans letter documents a minimum of three occurrences for completion of the evangelistic directive to all the world. First, Paul affirms their faith had been spoken of throughout the whole world. (Romans 1:5) Later he asks about the reception of the word. “But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: Their sound has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.” (Romans 10:18). Interestingly, he uses the same language as does Jesus (inhabited earth) to describe the fulfillment of the mission. Secondly, he affirms that the gospel has gone to all nations. “…the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith.” Compare Matthew 28:19. Thirdly, Marks gospel renders the Great Commission with slightly different wording, saying it must be preached in all the world (cosmos) to all the creation. It too finds literal fulfillment in the letter to the Colossians. Compare Mark 16:15. The word of the truth of the gospel had come to not only the Colossians, but also to in all the world. Later, he uses the term creation, specifying the detail of the prediction in its fulfillment. “…and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven…” (Colossians 1:23) The Imminent End in the First Century All writers of the New Testament predicted an imminent end of the age. They saw the day of the Lord as being at hand. (Romans 13:11, 12; Philippians 4:5; James 5:7,8; 1 Peter 4:7, 17; Revelation 1:1,3; 22:6, 10, 12) Imperative in fulfilling the prediction of an imminent end required completion of the worldwide evangelistic mission. The apostles completed their mission in less than 40 years as the record shows. In summary, worldwide evangelism was a sign of the end predicted by Jesus. He included it in the Great Commission given to the apostles. They took the message to all the nations, to all the inhabited earth, and to all the creation in obedience as faithful proclaimers of the word, –all within one generation. The end-time therefore arrived on time before some living in the first century passed away, just as Jesus predicted. William Bell is a public speaker, author and writer on Covenant Eschatology. Performing Arts Schools Can Help You Get Into the Act

Monday, February 25th, 2008

By Michael Bustamante Performing Arts Schools teach the necessary skills and techniques to become a professional performing artist such as an actor, comedian, singer, musician or dancer. The Performing Arts encompass every type of public performance, including theater, motion pictures, music concerts, dance performances, magic shows, opera, puppet shows, circuses, and many more. Although it is not always required, a formal education can be a great advantage when seeking employment in the field of Performing Arts. It is generally understood by directors and producers that a concentrated education gives the performer a basic knowledge of stage commands and terms, and what is expected of him/her during rehearsals and performances. In addition to an academic education, Performing Arts Schools offer opportunities to perform in front of an audience, giving practical experience in the field and helping the performer to feel at ease. Some Performing Arts Schools offer technical instruction, as well. Technical instruction would include subjects such as costumes, stage makeup, lighting, play directing, music conducting, set design (also known as stage design or scenography), set building, scene painting, props, set dressing, sound design, playwrighting, stage management, arts administration, marketing and promotion, and other behind-the-scenes subjects. Using Self-Talk and Affirmations to Help You Succeed With Women

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

By Don Diebel I’m a firm believer in self-talk, using affirmations. I am going to give you a list of affirmations to repeat over and over in your mind throughout the day to help you meet, date, attract, and seduce more single women. Say these affirmations with feeling and emotion. Actually see yourself in your mind’s eye doing these things. You can even say them in front of a mirror to give them more power and impact. The purpose of all this self-talk and repetition is for these affirmations to work on your subconscious mind to make them a self-fulfilling prophesy. Here is the list of affirmations to use (pick the ones that apply to you) to help you succeed with single women: I can walk up to any woman and start talking to her. I can move into action quickly and easily when I see a woman I would like to meet. I realize that some women simply are not interested in men So if I get turned down by a woman, I quickly forget about it and move on to another woman. When I go to a nightclub, I will now feel very relaxed and comfortable around women. Each time I try to meet a woman is easier than the time before. I close the door tightly on my past bad experiences with women and keep it closed. Now I’m not standing around all night waiting for something to happen. Now I make something happen. I take action. I realize that most women I meet are quiet anxious to have me ask them for a date. Knowing this, I am completely relaxed and self-confident whenever I ask a woman for a date. With Personal Loans You Will Not Require Compromising With Your Needs

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jake_Nathan]Jake Nathan Monetary crisis can no more prevent you from enjoying a refreshing holiday in a serene place in some remote location, as there are personal loans to provide you the cash you need to for the purpose. It is not that you can take out personal loans just to bear the expenditure of holidaying; you can also use these loans for any of your major personal needs. What is interesting is that you will not require showing any particular reason to the lender for taking out a personal loan. A large variety of personal needs can be fulfiled with personal loans. For example, you can bear the expenditure of your marriage with them or finance your children to pursue higher education. In order to refurbish your home these loans can be used. Most importantly, you can use a personal loanto consolidate all your high interest debts into one easily manageable loan. However, a personal loan is not meant to be used in ones day-to-day household expenditure. A bad credit record generally makes it tough to get approval for any type of loan. With personal loans the matter is not opposite. However, taking a few cautionary measures one can easily get a [http://www.loans-bazaar.co.uk/personal-loans.html ]personal loan approved even with his poor credit record. First, he will have to get the inaccurate information in his credit corrected. Then he needs to search the loan market thoroughly to find out the lenders who offer personal loans to borrowers with poor credit record. Finally you have to show strong proof in favour of your repayment ability. All these steps can certainly enable you to take out a loan despite your poor credit score. Do not shy away from applying for a personal loan if you do not have collateral to offer. Personal loans are accessible to both tenants as well as homeowners. 8 Mistakes I Made While Trying To Lose Weight

Monday, February 18th, 2008

By Darren MacLeod I went on my first diet around five years ago. Over the past four and a half years my weight went up and down as I tried every diet and exercise program under the sun. Nothing seemed to work for me. Until six months ago I enrolled in a weight workshop which taught me that I need to change the way I look at food. It was then that I realized that I had made many mistakes in my quest to lose weight. In this article Im going to share with you eight mistakes I made on my quest to lose weight. I hope by sharing my experiences with others throughout the world via the internet I might be able to help people avoid the mistakes I made. So, here are the eight mistakes I made while trying to lose weight. 1. I started to skip breakfast Most people trying to lose weight believe simply eating less and skipping meals helps shed that fat. And breakfast is a real easy meal to skip. This is one of the biggest mistakes you can make when on a weight loss diet. If you leave the house in the morning on an empty stomach youre much more tempted to eat more at morning tea and lunch times. And, calories you eat at breakfast time are easily burnt throughout the day. 2. I would eat one day and not the next I would literally eat about 2000+ calories one day, feel guilty, and end up eating about 700 calories the following day. If you starve yourself throughout the day youre much more likely to eat more in the evenings, which is not going to help you lose weight. You should consume most of your calories in the morning. 3. I bought diet food When I went shopping I always looked for the foods marked diet, low-fat, healthy etc. This is a good practice to get into, but I was buying these foods for the wrong reason. I bought these foods because in my mind it meant I could more. I would totally disregard portion size. If you eat diet foods in large portions youre not doing yourself any favors. 4. I thought Id always be fat This is mindset that you must break if you want to lose some serious weight. Sometimes it feels like youre doing the right things and not making any progress, this is totally natural. You need to focus on being happy and healthy and achieving your goals. Try not to get caught up in the big picture. 5. I started eating salads as main meals Eating salad is a good way of keeping your calorie intake down right? Yes, meal of salad has much less calories that a pizza but does it have the satisfaction? When you eat you mind needs to get some satisfaction from what you have just eaten. I found that when I ate salads for meals a few hours later I was back I the cupboard looking for more food. I learnt that I was better off eating a balanced meal with slightly more calories than simply eating a salad and snacking afterwards. 6. I started my new diets on Mondays When I found a new diet that I decided I was going to try I always started it on a Monday. This meant I would eat all weekend like I was never going to eat again. Doing this I was just setting myself up for failure. 7. I was to embarrassed to go to the gym Taking the plunge and joining a gym was one of the hardest things I ever did. I was always worried that people in the gym would be staring at me and talking about me. I really thought I was too fat to join. My advice is to join a gym! Youll be glad you did. I look forward to going to the gym now. 8. I set my goals too high Setting long term goals is great, but these goals always seem to far off. You need to set smaller, more reachable goals that you can regularly meet to keep your motivation high. Set yourself weekly, monthly and three monthly goals. Once you meet one short term goal set a new one for next week. So there you have it, those are the mistakes I made. I now look at weight loss from a totally different perspective and it has paid off. I now help others with weight loss and keeping healthy. For more weight loss tips, diets, articles and info visit my site http://www.dailyweightlosstips.net. Marketing Innovation - How to Improve Marketing ROI

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

By Michael Fleischner There are a number of basic marketing fundamentals that everyone needs to know in order to generate attention, interest, desire and action among prospects. But to be successful in todays competitive environment, you need more than a basic understanding of a traditional AIDA model and the 4 Ps (product, place, price, promotion). A number of years ago, I discovered a marketing methodology made popular by Michael Gerber. For those of you who have never heard of him, you can still find his books on Amazon or your local bookstore. Mr. Gerber referred to this marketing methodology as the E-myth which was comprised of: innovation, quantification, orchestration, and documentation. This methodology is the key behind major marketing successes like McDonalds, the Four Seasons, and many other well-known brands. Let me explain his methodology and illustrate how it can be applied to your business to deliver significant ROI. InnovationIf you do what everyone else is doing, youll get the same results if youre lucky. Most often, those who excel in any market are the innovators, those who are continually trying new things, creating new methods of doing business, or standing for something unique. Whether youre Ben & Jerrys ice cream, Apple computer, or Tommy Hilfiger, innovation is baked into the sale, marketing, and product development process. To illustrate, lets take a look at your run-of-the-mill retail clothing store. When you enter the store, whats the first thing the sales rep says to you? You guessed it, How can I help you? An example of applying innovation would be to have that same sales representative open with a new greeting, something like, Hello, is it your first time visiting our store?. If yes, theres a perfect opportunity to discuss what makes you unique, how to navigate the store, and so on. If no, the same holds true Welcome back. Were you successful in finding what you needed upon your last visit? What can I help you with today? Regardless of the actual questions used, the example of innovation in a sales/marketing sense gives you the ability to try something new. This something can take a variety of different formats, but most importantly it iis something that can move you towards a greater ROI. Especially if you understand the next step which is quantification. QuantificationWith each innovation, an action is taken a product sampled, research conducted, a new sales pitch or value proposition delivered. To be truly effective with your marketing you must measure your results. The most successful marketing programs are always working to improve their return on investment (ROI). The key is to measure each independent element that could possibly influence your result.Using our example of the retail establishment, you wouldnt want to ask all of your sales reps to start using a new pitch AND change their dress code. Doing so might dilute your ability to measure the effectiveness of a new sales script. Additionally, you wouldnt want to change other store elements like the music or store layout at the same time doing so would make accurate measurement next to impossible. Now that youve tried something new and measured its effectiveness, youre ready for the third component, orchestration. OrchestrationAfter trying something innovative, and measuring the result, you now know what works and what doesnt. The key is to keep innovating in small ways, continually testing and evaluating the results. Once you have your successes identified, you need to roll them out in a systemic fashion. All sales and marketing personnel should be utilizing and implementing the latest innovation in all they do. This methodology now becomes your control. Your next innovation is only effective if it produces better results than your control. Improving your process of orchestration is also extremely important. The faster you implement your innovation across the business in a consistent fashion, the better your results become. Walmart is a master of this. If there is an innovation in one store, it is quickly shared and implemented with all store managers across the U.S. The result is innovation on a massive scale which has a direct and positive influence on ROI. DocumentationThe top innovators do this last step extremely well. Documentation doesnt mean creating reams of manuals that are esoteric or difficult to navigate. Rather, documentation is the development of a guide, procedure, or system that allows consistent implementation of the innovations you develop. As new personnel come into your business, you want to make sure that the innovations and enhancements youve made to your sales and marketing practices are fully implemented. The best way to do this is to not expect an employee to memorize a 700 page employee instruction manual. Rather, they should become familiar with your way of doing business - which needs to be documented in a simple, easily understandable format. You know youre at a company that does this well when you hear things like, thats the Walmart way or This is how we do it here. Its those companies that create living documentation that is easily understood and implemented that excel. ConclusionIf youre trying to enhance your marketing program, or create one from scratch, keep this methodology in mind: innovation, quantification, orchestration, documentation. This process will ensure constant growth and improvement in your marketing results. Dont just take my word for it, look at most major brands or category leaders. Under the hood, youll find systems for innovation, ways of testing, measuring, implementing, and documenting in a seemingly effortless fashion.
